PureCity is a mobile app that enables citizenships to easily report incidents such as trash, potholes and graffitis . Users need to indicate the location of the incident and can optionally upload a picture as well.

Result

In a modern city, many of the inconveniences experienced by the population need to be reported to the municipality for prompt intervention. Among those issues we found littering in public spaces, pot holes on the streets, graffities, broken playgrounds, and so on. Messy public areas reduce feelings of safety, reduces aestetics, and promotes undesired behavior. Therefore, it is important to provide a solution for quick correction.

The PureCity enables users to quickly report the aforementioned issues in a quick and easy manner, without worrying to whom, how and when to report. By reducing the trouble of reporting, we aimed at increasing public awareness and compliance.

A hi-fi prototype was implemented using JQuery Mobile, HTML, CSS, JS, SQL, PhoneGap and PhPmyadmin. The functionalities included geolocation and picture storage and report.

Method

The method followed for development was:

  1. Brainstorming
  2. Formulation of the design goals
  3. Quick paper prototyping of the desired system
  4. Hi-fidelity mock-ups for detailed visual design
  5. Hi-fidelity prototyping using web technologies and PhoneGap for Android
